CD 122 on a pole Insulators in Service

This section shows glass or porcelain insulators still in service. Each photograph includes a description of the insulators, their use, the location, and other information. Isn't it exciting to see insulators (especially glass ones!) still in use? In addition, for those newer collectors this provides some insight into how the insulators, wires, pins, poles, crossarms and other hardware fit together!

Tip: There is also a large library of "In Service" photos posted by ICON members in the general pictures section.

There also are some great "in service" shots of porcelain insulators in use around the turn of the century in the West Kootenay Power Archive Photos section.
