The winning ticket is...

How did we choose this number? It was computed from the opening price
of the
Dow Jones Industrial Average
on January 15, 2008 which was $12,777.50 or
1,277,750 in cents.

Raffle ticket numbers 1000 through 2529 were sold, which is a total
of 1530 tickets (2529 - 1000 + 1). You take the remainder of 1,277,750 divided by
1530 which
gives you a number between 0 and 1529 which is 200. You add 1000 to
that which gives a number between 1000 and 3042. Thus the winning ticket
number is 1200
!!

calculation of the winning ticket.
And the person with the winning ticket

Dwayne Anthony of Highland, CA
However... Dwayne writes to ICON on January 16, 2008 upon
notification that he had the winning ticket:
Yeah, yeah, I can hear all the moans and groans out there, along
with, “It’s too bad that beautiful cobalt signal didn’t go to
someone that really needed it for their collection”. Well, since
this signal was donated to ICON in honor of Al Way, it would be my
honor to accept it, especially since I very much treasured Al’s
friendship. However, with that being said, I must agree with the
rest of you that there were likely many participants in the raffle
that desired to own this dazzling cobalt signal more than I. I will
admit that my donations to ICON were not directed at winning the
signal, they were simply “donations to ICON”. I’m sure that there
are other advanced collectors that made donations in 2007 that feel
the same way.
For those of you that participated in the raffle and had a strong
desire to add this signal to your collection, I will re-offer the
chance to win it once again, but for a price. What is the price you
ask? Simply reply to me with a brief one or two line statement as to
why you would like to add this insulator to your collection. I will
personally select those that sincerely qualify and forward those
names to Bill Meier. You are free to respond with witty
statements, such as, “I want to win it so I can resell it on ICON”,
or “It would make a great addition to my expanding shelf of 57
cobalt signals that I already own”, but such statements will likely
disqualify you. :-) I’ll be expecting replies from those that will
accept this signal as a gift and truly appreciate it in their
collection for years to come.
[Some of the details were outlined in this message, but to put
it all together in more detail, they have been written up on a
separate page].
Good luck to all eligible participants!
Dwayne Anthony
But wait, there's more... It's a whole new ball game!
Please read this new set of instructions
to continue to participate in the raffle. Dwayne is re-raffling the
prize!
