"This is the first attempt at displaying a wide variety of Hemingray produced wares in one exhibit. Hemingray operated under various names from 1848 to 1933. In 1933, the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. purchased Hemingray. At that time, Hemingray because a tradename of Owens-Illinois for the insulators that had become world famous. The Covington, KY factory of Hemingray was closed around 1894 and all production afterwards occurred at Muncie, IN. The factory in Muncie was closed in 1972 ending a quarter century of Hemingray glass production."

Insulators:"Hemingray's world famous insulators were produced from approximately 1869 through 1967. Examples in various colors and designs with Patent Dec. 19, 1871, Patent May 2 1893, and others are represented."
