Hemingray Colorful Dump Finds - Roger Lucas, Columbus, Indiana

Over 150 items from the dump at the Hemingray plant in Muncie, Indiana were on display. If you can conceive of every imaginable color of glass, it was produced at Hemingray. Not every color found its way into a insulator, but the assortment of glass chunks unearthed was amazing. Also on display were many of the "solid" throw-aways that may have been discarded by workers as warming pours from a piece under production. Bottles, cruets, ice cream dishes and a large array of known insulator shapes were found in near-whole and partial pieces. And, some of the wide assortment of insulators manufactured in unknown colors was very impressive. If you can't find or afford the "whole" thing, I'd settle for a "piece" of history any day!
