A History of the Electrical Porcelain Industry in the United States

A History of the Electrical Porcelain Industry in the United States

by Jack H. Tod

180 pages, 8 1/2" x 11", soft bound (1977)

 (out of print)

This book is the only reference for non-pin-type porcelain insulators such as specialty porcelain, knobs, cleats, and spools. Histories are given for nearly 100 manufacturers most of which did not make pin-types. Also included are all known markings, all registered trademarks, patents, the "standard porcelain" chart, catalog illustrations, how insulators were made, etc. The book is the result of thousands of hours of research by Mr. Tod and has a wealth of information in it that will never be duplicated -- no one else would have the time or energy to do all that research.

For those of you not familiar with Jack Tod, he created the U-chart for unipart porcelain insulators and wrote Porcelain Insulator News in CJ from 1970-1984. He died in 1990.
