After a conference in Cheyenne, I decided to do a some insulator hunting before returning home. After searching a section of the Union Pacific in southern Wyoming with little luck - I tried to find a quicker way out of the sagebrush by making a beeline for the nearest oil service road - when I literally ran across what looks like an original section of the trans-continental rail-road bed. I was only able to follow it for about a 1/4 of mile, and found what may have been some original spikes, or the last spikes they used before rerouting the tracks to their current location. Any railroad experts out there, knowing the difference?
