After a conference in Cheyenne, I decided to do a some insulator hunting before returning home. After searching a section of the Union Pacific in southern Wyoming with little luck - I tried to find a quicker way out of the sagebrush by making a beeline for the nearest oil service road - when I literally ran across what looks like an original section of the trans-continental rail-road bed. I was only able to follow it for about a 1/4 of mile, and was only able to find shards of threaded insulators. However, one shard I found had the letters "OL" on the skirt(?) with the rest of the embossing sheared off or missing. The "O" & "L" appear to be the first two letters of the embossing. Any ideas on the CD and or manufacture? I left the shards for another collector to find, in case they could find the entire insulator in the Wyoming dirt. |
