This is the standout piece in my California collection. It is a two-tone toll, CD 121, in copper with purple swirls. As a newbie Cal collector, I purchased it on eBay years ago from an east coast collector who got out of the hobby in the 1970's and re-discovered his collection in the garage more than two decades later. The piece has been basically under wraps for four years because of public disbelief and criticism and my fear of public criticism. I have talked to collecting veterans and searched Cal collections near and far, looking for another example. The only other one I have found is the CD 161 signal pictured in the same May 2004 CJW article, which belongs to another collector :-( This is a new color listing in the 2003 Price Guide. For some collectors, the jury is still out on this color piece.
