Here we are working along the line, taking down rather big "cylinderheads" and cone shaped pieces, both with green glazed tops. The concrete poles are all in bad condition, with big pieces of them falling off when we hammered on the insulator hardware. You can see that our hunt are well timed, as new replacement poles have been put along the railway. The concrete foundations are already been made. Those "green tops" are only found on a stretch with a length of ca 3 km, and due to cement expansion in the pinhole, many of them are cracked or split in half. These insulators were used for a feed line to an old cableway. It was a very hard work to take some of them down, as due to rusted and stuck nuts, we had to saw off the thick iron hook instead. You can see one of them with hook lying on the track. |
