I'm not a porcelain specialist, but been going through some of my porcelains and IDing them with Tod and Gish' books. Here are four pieces that in rather dim indoor lighting appear as unremarkable brown shades. I set them on the floor in direct sunlight shining through the window, and presto! The colors come alive.....This photo doesn't do them justice, but the colors are rich and beautiful. A very dark reddish/purple/maroon mahogany color (unmarked); a neat medium walnut sort of brown (Illinois); a butterscotch orange glaze(Lapp), and a chocolate brown (SBT).
