This is a CD 145 American Insulator Company embossed "AM INSULATOR CO. N.Y. DOUBLE PETTICOAT. PAT'D SEPT. 13, 1881, NOV. 18, 1883, FEB. 12, 1884" in nice medium green. Again, I would like to say that this insulator was found in Georgia, but I actually purchased it from Doug MacGillvary many years ago. The CD 145 American's in shades of aqua were very common on the Central of Georgia Railway telegraph line. The ones I still have are packed in a box in garage and it's to cold to recover them for photos. I have Doug's green American in my collection so have used it for the purpose of a photo. I remember that I do have four different mould styles which show size and dome differences. I also think I have about three or four different embossings. My favorite is one in very deep blue that shows the remains of the segmented / slotted thread pattern - it does have the standard threads. Maybe once the weather warms up I can get all the 145's out of my boxes and document the various mould styles I have. Although the CD 145 was not as common as the CD 145 W. Brookfield and the various CD 145 "B" styles, there were many that could have been recovered. It was never a good trader so I did not attempt to recover many of these. This told me that they must have been widely used through out the United States. |
