This is the largest dead end spool ever manufactured by the Locke Insulator Manufacturing Company and the largest spool I know of to have been commercially put into service in North America. This two part spool was rated in the Locke1906 catalog for 20kV service. The lower tube skirt is sulfur cemented into the main spool body. The spool is dead mint and appears to have been used indoors or possibly never used at all. It has a clear large VICTOR/R=00 insulator logo marking on the lower umbrella. The skirts of the spool are 10.5" wide and the spool is 13" tall.

This specific spool design was patented by John S.Lapp in 1904 wile he worked at the Locke factory and features a unique drip lip petticoat inside the top through hole entrance. These were offered by Locke from 1904 through about 1915.

I believe there are only five of these spools known to be in collections. $550+ shipping or can deliver to the Springfield show for free.
