The Thomas M-3250 "Shawinigan" was designed by Ralph Mershon in 1901 and is one of the earliest American cemented multipart designs. This insulator was recovered from the Montreal, Quebec main substation at the terminus of the original 1901 Shawinigan Falls to Montreal transmission line. Canadian collector Rob Lloyd recovered three of these in the early 1990's in a well storied "lunchtime adventure". It was removed from inside the old transformer building using a ladder he "borrowed" from a parked line truck nearby. There are only about 12 reported M-3250 examples that survive in collector hands.
