This insulator from the Carver Mead and Barbara Smith collection was recovered from the Montreall, QC main substation that was the terminus of the original Shawinigan Falls to Montreal transmission line. The M-3250 "Shawinigan" was designed by Ralph Mershon and is one of the earliest American cemented multipart designs that was first manufactured in 1901. Canadian collector Rob Lloyd recovered three of these in the early 1990's in Montreal, Quebec in a well storied "lunchtime adventure". It was removed from inside the old transformer building using a ladder he "borrowed" from a parked line truck nearby.
