A Pair of Stoddard Glass Works Threadless ~ PIC-3 Here is a pair of threadless from the New Granite Glass Works in Stoddard, NH. An unembossed 731.3 in deep Stoddard golden amber loaded with milky fizz, and an embossed 740 FOSTER BROS in a really nice deep root beer amber. To the best of my knowledge both were excavated at the site of New Granite Glass Works in Millvillage Stoddard, NH many decades ago during construction / additions to the old country store & post office. They both appear to be factory discards having no wire rubs etc., and only factory flaws. I had an opportunity to purchase one from a small group of CD 740 Foster's that were churned-up during the construction / village store expansion in the 1980's but was unable to secure the funds. These two came into my custody not long ago. The 740 Foster Bros has a 1" clamshell skirt chip as only flaw, embossing is perfect. The remainder shiny VVNM. The 731.3 has a bit of lean and two open bubbles one upper wire ridge and one directly below on lower ridge. Also, a 3/4" deep thumbnail bottom skirt chip with an associated shallow 1-1/2" long flat base rim chip. The remainder shiny VVNM. Asking $1,400 plus insured USPS Ground Advantage shipping to lower 48. PayPal F&F please. |
