Here's a rare U-1991 porcelain inverted cone insulator with an unlisted Taylor Tunnicliffe dome marking from the UK. This incuse embossing is not shown in the books or NIA website for this U-number! Measures 3 1/2" wide x 6" tall. These were usually installed on the peak of the pole, with only 1 per pole, making them an easy target for kids throwing stones. This explains why they are rarely seen or sold. Last inverted cone I found was 8 years ago. No others are recorded as being sold on ICON and I've never seen one offered for sale at an insulator show! These are even rare in England! This one has the extended inner shed (porcelain skirt) which is undamaged. The lower skirt has been repaired and is missing a very small base piece. Wire rub marks around the wire groove, very tiny crown flake, small shoulder brown scuff mark which may wash off. Displays excellent on the reverse side! First email gets this Rare Inverted Cone insulator patented in 1885 with the unlisted embossing for only $175 shipped. When was the last time you saw one of these offered for sale? |
