In addition to a beautiful color, there is fizz throughout the insulator which really makes it glow in the sunlight or when under-lit. This insulator was used for both telegraph and telephone. As a lineman friend told me many communication lines started out as telegraph and as phone became more popular, the same lines carried telephone messages instead of telegraph.

This insulator is in amazing condition, but it does have some hard-to-find damage. There is a ½ inch long separation in the glass that catches the light like a crack about 3 drip points right of "42". I don't see any impact mark, so I am not sure what to call it. There is some roughness to the inside edge of the petticoat in several places. There is ½ inch long light scratch over the embossing on the back of the insulator and several flea bites.
