A while back I had posted pictures of a two spool dead end bracket used mainly in the middle states and out west from what I have seen. I have pieces marked Illinois Porcelain Insulator Co. and Universal Clay Products Co.(U).Plus some no names. I recently found a patent relating to this configuration. It is US 1,806,170 May 19, 1931 refering to a bracket mounted on a crossarm with two spools. It just goes to show that with time and determination you can eventualy find something. I had posted these before but here is a combined picture of two different sizes of this dead end arrangement. I have seen pictures of these mounted on poles but still don't understand there arrangement other than to run the wires from the side of the crossarm in an other direction. I also seen them running wires from transformers too but facing in that sidewats direction. Anyways really neat brackets and spools. How do they think of these things? |
