While on the subject ofrare nail knobs, I thought I would show some pictures of the pieces I have made by The Star Porcelain Co. Mainly known for there contract buissness making speciality products for different companies, their own products are hard to find. I have a handfull of items from them. As I mentined in another post, there was a Star embossed bridle ring insulator. I have some star made radio strains somewhere and the Red Devil standoff insulator I'd have to find and post sometime. They were known for the Nu-Black porcelain insulators made foir Cook Pottery Co. Philco Radio Co. Fleron Radio Co.and other companies they had contracts for. In this picture is items made by them as far as electric house wiring. The top two picture rows are of the self tying IDEAL knob patent US855,208 May 28 1907 and the oval shaped nail knob marked Star on the top and Pat Dec 5 05 on the bottom. It falls under patent number US 806,588 Dec 5 1905. .Also is the IDEAL nail knob. It has a neat radial grip pattern on the underside of the top and the bottom is similar to early Cook Porcelain Co. Wedge nail knobs. The bottom picture shows three different embossed wiring cleats marked Star. |
