This insulator looks very close to the previous one, # 9, but look at next picture. It is one of the earlier types of high voltage insulators in use in Europe, developed in the late 1880s, early 1890s, from standard cylinder crown telegraph insulator, by adding a second petticoat. This specimen is from a later plant, built around 1905, and in my opinion it was manufactured in Germany, although it was found (and used on 3 kV lines) in Italy, near Varese. [IFONA U ???] |
