Here, I have three CD 161 Californias, all of which have "A" embossed domes. Time to weed out duplicates to make space. California is the epitome of color oddities. A. is a Dark-Smoke with a light plum tint. B. is Dark-smoke. It appears to have a purple tint in photos, but I don't see purple. And my daughters (with young 20/20 vision) agree - there's no purple tint. C. is a Medium-smoke with a definite gray tint. All excellent condition with usual issues such as annealing surface separation on threads, surface annealing cracks on dome, BB-peck, surface scratches on the domes, and wire scuffs on the skirt. I have detailed photos of all. Just ask and I can send via email. I take all payments (PayPal, zelle, venmo, check, etc). Whatever works for you. The Dark smoke color is often mistaken for purple, but it is not. The first solid smoke beehive I acquired long ago was sold as a purple. But it is just a great dark smoke and I loved it immediately; and since that time, I have hunted for the odd colors like dark-grays, off-clears, and dark-smoke for years in California, WGM, WFG, and HGCo. |
