This is the main line between Boston, MA and Albany, NY (aka the Boston & Albany Railroad); alongside it was a busy telegraph line connecting Boston with Albany and points west. Shown is a 6-crossarm pole line that probably was built in the 1880s. This no doubt was an early threaded/threadless insulator route in early years.
