Wood Amongst The Wires - The Temporary Solution

by Fred Padgett & Walter P. Ruedrich

216 pages, 8 1/2" x 11", softbound book

Brand new, unused copies. This book describes the when, where, why, and how San Francisco's street railway insulators were made of wood and other materials.

It contains 216 pages of historical information, 209 half-tone photographs, numerous graphics, maps, and charts, plus a full-color insert showcasing the most vibrant woods.

Also featured are photographs of overhead feeder lines before their removal in the 1970's and 1980's, historical pictures taken before and at the time the wooden insulators were installed, and anecdotes provided by key collectors whose efforts are greatly responsible for the preservation of many of San Francisco's trolley system insulators and associated hardware.
