The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Wheeling and Pittsburgh Subdivision also passed within about 500 feet of my house. It sported a three crossarm pole lead and B&O color position light signals into the early 1990's. In the 1950's nearly 40 passenger and freight trains utilized the line. In the middle 1980's CSX abandoned the western end of it from Washington to Wheeling. After that it was nothing more than a branch line with three trains a week. The W&P kept it's top two long abandoned Western Union Telegraph crossarms. A lot of nice glass insulators could be found including crown embossed CD 151's, SB Hemingray Blue CD 151's, CD 132 Patent 1871 bullets, yellow green Lynchburg CD 154's, and SDP B CD 145's. One 1870 CD 136 was found near Finleyville, Pa.
