This was my mother in-laws favorite insulator. It's filled with tiny seed bubbles and a milky streak in the center. What amazes me is the finish of the hexagonal flats. They are perfectly smooth and must have been hand lapped or ground. Measuring across flats with digital verniers, they are also within two thousandths of an inch to each other, amazing for 1871.
