I fell victim to an impulse buy today; an old electric meter from the Fort Wayne Electric Works. I do not collect meters, nor do I have much knowledge of electrical hardware in general. My hobby focus has always shifted more toward the insulator manufacturers, not who used them and how. But I thought this meter would be a neat go-with for my Ft.W.E.Co. 162's, and made an offer. The seller accepted. So, I started to do a little Googling on the company, and WOW! It seems they were/are a big name in the electrical game of the 1890's/1900's. They seemed to be an early innovator in the couple of publications I've skimmed over. Although they are frequently mentioned in articles about the history of lighting, meters, and other electrical dohickeys, my question is, does anyone know of a good source of information on JUST this particular company? I searched the online CJOW archives and PicturePoster Gallery, and didn't come up with much. I know there are a lot of research gurus out there who know a lot about this company. I'd love to hear from you! |
