Here's an oddball "Canadian" style from the Prairies. These Brookfield-made hives were made for the telegraph circuits along the Grand Trunk Pacific and once turned up in large numbers throughout western Canada. As such, they can be found with all of the character that one would expect from an Old Bridge era Brookfield product. This one is a typical dark aqua colour with some nice snow throughout, but the really interesting bit is the presence of a chunk of molded glass embedded into the dome top. This appears to be a fragment of a broken insulator that was tossed into the mold before pouring the glass used to form this piece. Since the dome was the bottom of the mold, and every re-used scrap of glass helped cut down on manufacturing waste, Brookfield did this a lot. It's not often that I see actual recognizable mold lines on the fragments, though, so this piece is a bit special.

In fair condition with just one 6 mm long outer base edge flake below the "G.T.P." embossing and some of the typical wire groove scuffs.

I'm now asking $25 USD plus actual shipping cost for this character piece. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I have a long-standing want list of Canadian-made porcelain posted, [id=505519866; please click here to see it]. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items.
