This sort of oddball spool style seems to be somewhat unique to Canada, where it was made by a few different manufacturers and saw regional use in several areas. This is essentially a typical low voltage porcelain spool, measuring 2 3/4" tall by 3" wide, but with one portion of the side groove being MUCH deeper and more pronounced than the remainder. I'm not sure of the exact purpose of this design, but in most cases it seems to have been used with the conductor resting in the larger recessed portion of the spool. Sort of an interesting oddball for the spool collector among us (it's okay to admit it - you're not alone). This example is in good shape but does have one small bruise and a tiny associated flake on the top outer edge, just above the deeper recessed portion of the groove. I'm asking $40 USD, INCLUDING SHIPPING within Canada or the lower 48 US states for this one. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I have a long-standing want list of Canadian-made porcelain posted, [id=505519866; please click here to see it]. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
