Up for grabs is a nifty pairing: an early outer skirt rest U-256 OB Signal with its original bracket. Neither the insulator nor its bracket are anything special in monetary value or rarity, at least independently of each other. Together as a pair is how I found them at a local yard sale maybe 20 years ago, and that's kind of what makes them special... at least to me!

The insulator has its original soot and was firmly fixed to the bracket when I found it. The glaze on it is a fairly typical 1910s or 20s mottled OB one. The bracket retains its original early 20th century red house paint, applied to the surface on only the front of the bracket, right up to below the insulator. beneath the red paint there seems to be a coat of an off white one as well. One can tell that the bracket has long been paired with the insulator because the paint covers the lower few threads and stops exactly at the base of the stubby signal, which just doesn't thread on very far. The pairing just has such a great look to it, with lots of patina that just takes you right to that barn where I found the thing in a dusty box full of junk. I don't see items turn up like this quite as often anymore, personally.

The insulator has one 7 mm wide inner skirt flake, but is otherwise in good shape. As mentioned, it's dirty and perhaps there is damage I can't see... but it's not really about the condition of the common insulator anyways. This piece is cool because it has that look of a century-old insulator, as found. The bracket is solid and in good shape - either used under a the eave of a building, or perhaps just kept in good condition by the application of paint on its outer surface.

Now asking $35 USD INCLUDING SHIPPING within Canada or the lower 48 US states for this pair. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I have a long-standing want list of Canadian-made porcelain posted, [id=505519866; please click here to see it]. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before.
