This will be the second to last installment of our mill adventure. We will start with a few insulators still in the air and then switch over to the destruction wrought upon the premises by large machines with claws and buckets. The mill remnants I have been posting were part of the historic Pressed Steel Car Company. It was affiliated with U.S. Steel and was once the second largest producer of steel railroad cars in the United States. This place had a very dark history in the early 1900's labor relations-wise. A large strike occurred here, and many people were killed and maimed. I believe most of the cranes I have posted and the highest insulators in the rafters (Patent dated Hemingray signals and mice) were installed when the plant was built.
