Here's a great-looking threaded version of the "compromise insulator". We don't see these CD 131s up here in Ontario much, as we were still in the threadless era of things around here while these things were being made. This example appears to be most similar to the [032] EIN in the newest guide book, but with one variation: the rear skirt has both a large and a small number 3 embossed, not just one number as the guide book seems to suggest. It has the 3 lines on the rear crown. This example has some nice amber and milk lines throughout the front crown and skirt. This piece has some damage: a 15 mm flake and associated fisheye bruise on the front upper wire ridge, with a 1 cm flake just below it on the lower wire ridge. A scuff on the front crown, and a couple small flakes and some roughness on the front base edge. On the back side, there's a 1 cm flake on the lower wire ridge and a 7 mm by 5 mm flake to the right of the double 3 embossing. Lastly, there is a 1 cm wide flat flake on the rear base, and a couple other tiny flakes off the outer base edge. Seems like a paragraph to describe the damage, but really this one is pretty nice for what is now a 150+ year old insulator. I'm asking $70 USD plus shipping for this one. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I have a long-standing want list of Canadian-made porcelain posted, [id=505519866; please click here to see it]. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
