It contains 216 pages of historical information about these unusual artifacts including 209 half tone photographs, numerous graphics, maps, and charts, and a full color insert showing the most colorful woods. Also featured are photographs by Richard Peterson of overhead feeder lines before their removal in the 1970's and 1980's, historical photographs taken before and at the time the wooden insulators were installed, and anecdotes provided by key collectors whose efforts are greatly responsible for the preservation of many of San Francisco trolley system insulators and associated hardware. Many remarkable and unusual examples of San Francisco wooden insulators from top collections are pictured along with many insulators made of materials other than wood for this system.
