Some color confusion with the Californias as expected, so I am posting a photo of some colored CGICo ponies. From left to right: Sage Green; Green; Green; and Aqua. The California insulator mold types were first formally identified by Brent Burger in CJOW magazine in the early 1980's. The price guide is not equip to adequately differentiate all mold variations, so some of it was incorporated in the guide, while other information on other molds was not. The round top (RT) mold and point top (PT ) mold in California-made ponies was left out. That is really too bad because when you factor the mold type over the CD/embossing/ and color layers you really start to find some real production rarities. One of them is the hobby quantities of RT vs. PT green CGI ponies. According to Brent the PT green CGI pony was a recent discovery (2000's) by Denley Bryson from a line in Northern, northern California. I have just one but spotted two more at the Gettysburg National misidentified as sage green CGI's based on the price stickers. Note the sage green CGI pony is a toughie to find too and I have only seen it in the PT mold like the one pictured. Dome glass is a definite plus in IDing these pony colors.
