That's, um, not how geese work...

Found outside St. Maries, Idaho, on my way to Spudfest a month ago.

I've seen fake owls and other fake birds of prey perched on crossarms to scare away things that would build nests up there, but Canadian geese? Yeah, geese don't work like that... So I was very confused when I saw several poles in a row with these guys attached to the upper arm.

Doing some further research, apparently osprey aren't really scared off by the plastic owls and such - just too small. But plastic Canadian geese? That apparently does the trick. Now I'm not sure I'm convinced they're scary, or if they work just because they take up the whole space between the phase and the pole.
