Here's another oddity from the world of early Canadian telegraph styles made from porcelain. This is one of only a few styles of dry process Canadian telegraph beehive styles that I'm aware of. This diminutive little beehive is a tough one to track down, though it has been known to surface on Montreal Telegraph Company lines in eastern Canada, and sometimes on the Canadian Pacific in western Canada. Its stout shape and low wire groove make me believe it's likely contemporaneous with early unembossed and maybe Montreal Telegraph Company CD 143s. It also has a grooved base. This example is quite crude, with some pitting/recessed spots in the glaze along the base edge and a bit of an out of round shape overall. This example has a bruise on the rear base edge and an associated hairline crack running up to the upper wire ridge. It displays mint from the opposite side with just a few irregular pits in the glaze and base edge that are from manufacture. I'm asking $45 USD plus shipping for this example. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
