As a Midwesterner, CALIFORNIA-embossed insulators are uncommon discoveries at antique shops or flea markets and the best option to find a good selection is attending the annual Springfield, Ohio Insulator show. A few years ago, I found a purple CALIFORNIA-embossed CD 114 with a wild vortex effect in the dome, presumably from the glass sticking to the threaded mandrel. I got it for a VERY reasonable price, and it is far-and-away my best CALIFORNIA so far! The vortex dome is unlike any other I've seen and it is easy to appreciate this insulator's exceptional character. Does anyone else have a CALIFORNIA-embossed insulator, of any CD or color, with similar characteristics?
