Here's a nice lineup of porcelain spools from Italy. From L to R: #1 is a scarce crude spool. 2 1/8" w x 2 1/2" tall. Has 4mm base skirt flake and 12mm outer rim flake. Unmarked. Light glaze scuff marks. #2 is 2 1/16" w x 2 1/16" tall. Debossed marking "IMEC" in a rectangle on skirt and "136" inside base. No cracks or chips. Discolored spots appear to be under the glaze and could be factory made. #3 is 2" wide x 2" tall. Dry process. Base marked "10" in an oval and circle divided into 3 triangles with the letters VEG inside. G is often abbreviation for "factory" in German so this may be German but was used in Italy. 12mm x 11mm skirt chip and 1 1/16" upper rim glaze crack. #4 is 1 1/2" w x 1 1/2" tall. Unmarked. Cracked. #5 is 1 3/8" w x 1 3/8" tall. Debossed marking on inner skirt: "BRB35." Light use marks only. #6 is 1 1/8" w x 1 1/8" tall. Unusual circular base rings. Unmarked.
