A couple of weeks ago I was visiting a used mining equipment store that had many insulators. After purchasing a few glass insulators and an interesting conversation, I was given a porcelain insulator and told it was a mine insulator. I was given an explanation of how it was used, but it didn't make any sense as there was no way to mount both it and a wire. Anyway, after they gave it to me, they requested that if I learn anything more about it, please let them know what I learned.

Herein are some photos of the piece. It measures 2-1/8" point to point and 1-3/4" at the widest diameter. There is a ground flat on one side that they said mounted against a wood timber. That may have also been where it sat while being fired. There aren't any markings.

If you have any information on this piece, please let me know. Thanks!
