On my two insulator display poles, I took common cobs and tapped them for 1/2-13 and screwed them onto the lower exposed portion of a standard pin to hold duplex insulators. Not prototypically correct, but looks reasonable. My cross arms are made from 2x4s, so a real duplex pin, or any wood pins, would require to large a hole for 1 1/2 cross arm.
