A two-piece cleat in white porcelain is mounted on the underside of this crossarm for supporting the heavily-insulated, thick cable that led down to the street lamp on this pole (click "Previous" for details and for an overall view). Of interest is the side-tie insulator and bracket. This apparently was a standard construction method for tying series lighting cables that led down wooden poles within Narragansett Electric (RI) territory. These cables consisted of two heavy-guage copper wires inside them (for carrying the street lighting current) and were cloth covered overall with rather thick rubber beneath for high voltage protection from the series circuit.
