The Schamber Brothers store at Freeman, SD, with several multi-armed telephone poles nearby. It was erected in 1900, and had been owned by the namesake family until 1971, then passed through a succession of owners; the last owner using a later addition behind the main building for storage. The back half of the original building suddenly collapsed in October 2015 after decades of neglect; the city arranged for the swift removal of the remainder a couple days later. The lot has since been cleared. |
