It's been rather hot lately for metal detecting the open fields I know so I've been playing in water. Climbed down a steep hill on trees roots and started walking a creek in a very very old town. We've had a lot of storms so the water was high. But not so much at this sand/rock bar. Found a nice old pewter spoon and chunk of a side tab lightning rod insulator in hear a year ago. Have since upgraded detectors. Near shore after walking a while I get on a silver dime signal. Was hoping for a barber dime since I only have found one. Turned out to be a bit older.... 1734 One Real minted in Mexico city. and in fantastic condition considering it's 287 years old. First part to ware on these is the globe and the pillars. High relief. It's keeping this as found patina. Also found an old cuff button I'm trying to read the back mark The 1733 version is actually worth more go figure. But I don't do this for money on purpose anyway. Up to 152 quarters since early winter.
