These are some pieces that I dug around 1890's era poles along US Route 1 in Rockport Maine. A trolley line also ran along the road here. The highway has since been moved a few yards from the original grade, but the old pole sites were untouched by construction only about 20 feet off into the woods. Found pieces of 4 different 134.4's (only two different specimen samples are shown), a CD 127, CD 162 Star and two mint CD 134 CREB's. Of the three untouched pole sites, I have dug one. The second is for my next trip, but the third was ruined when a driveway was put in. Also found one of the wire guides for the thick copper trolley lines. |
