I picked this one up today. The large crown attracted me to the piece, but when I saw the wire groove, I just had to bring it home. The purposely formed wedges at the ends of the wire groove are a mystery to me. Are there other porcelain insulators with this type of wire groove? Was the insulator used with a clamp? Either way, I thought it was interesting enough to share.
