One of the most interesting ancient power lines in the country has recently been removed following 50+ years of abandonment and id like to present my research in a detailed story article in the future. For now ill share images taken and finds when the line was removed between December 2020 and April 2021. The line ran at 33,000-volts from Gaston Shoals to Spartanburg, SC using an eclectic mix of Aermotor towers and wood poles. It was completed in 1908 and revised during service until its abandonment sometime in the 1960s. The revisions and even the original line construction is a whole story on its own, much of which might be lost to time.

Two Thomas M-3471 are the top two insulators on this tower installed circa 1910 during a total reinsulation due to failed Akron HP M-3464.
