I have used Google Maps since my introduction to it as a kid to explore powerlines worldwide. However, my particular infrastructure interest lies in Ontario, Canada. After many years of observation, numerous towns in Ontario seem to differ in line construction, primarily armless brackets. The picture above is an example of the most common bracket used by nearly all companies through out Ontario. Nowadays, these armless brackets are mounted with composite insulators. However, I figure the use of these brackets began approximately in the early 1970s since I have a pair of NGK line posts insulators dated 1973 that came with armless brackets. They are the oldest that I know of. The following pictures are a summary of armless brackets found in various towns/cities in Ontario. Enjoy!!
