Fire alarm call box wires were strung upon the two crossarms atop this pole. Beneath are three 10-pin arms with telephone subscriber lines connecting to a wooden junction box so that the circuits could be combined into a single, paired, insulated cable (which you can see leading from the lower rear of the pole).Perhaps it led to a nearby exchange.

Lowermost are what look like electric lighting service lines.
