Rare curved porcelain enamel power pole sign from the Electric Company of New Jersey. This sign warns of arrest or conviction of anyone damaging insulators with a reward of $100 dollars. Today's dollars would equate to about $1500 which was pretty substantial. I can't find any information or history on the 'Electric Co of New Jersey' but have found history on the 'United Electric Co of New Jersey' which operated around the turn of the century and was short lived. If this is in fact the same company, this is an early power sign and the earliest of any signs I've seen mentioning insulators. The curved sign stands up for ease of display and portability. I guarantee the authenticity of this sign. Its the real deal. Measures: 13" x 9" Colors are COBALT BLUE and WHITE Sign was manufactured curved to be mounted to a pole. It has 4 mounting holes at the mid point of each of the 4 edges. Sign has damage consistent with age and was likely buried at some point in time. It has chips of porcelain, surface rust in areas and rusting along the edges with some loss of metal on the right side. Sign is "as found" with no touch ups or alterations.
