Click "Previous" for an overall look at this pole and a couple others that were along the same stretch of road. Note the ornate cast iron break-arm bracket on one of the upper crossarms. A series street lighting circuit deadended on each side of it with two wires (one from each tied-off end) leading down to the incandescent street light you see here. Heavily insulated cable was used for this purpose in this instance (with the two wires inside of it) because of the possible high voltage that can occur along such series lighting loops if there was a line break anywhere along its circuit..
