In the Fall of 1972, my wife and I moved from Warner Robins, GA back to Iowa City, IA to attend graduate school at the Univ. of Iowa. I was born in Charles City, IA and lived in Waterloo, Eldora, Des Moines and Iowa City, IA. My wife was born on a farm in Boone Co., IA between Ames and Boone, IA - she lived in Omaha, NE, and Iowa City, IA. We both have relatives all over the state of Iowa so were able to travel across the state during our time back in Iowa.

By way of background, I found two different Cadiz style insulators on the Chicago Northwestern RR in Boone Co., IA. Before Iowa was a state, it was part of the Wisconsin Territory and became a state in 1846. The Chicago Northwestern RR ran East and West across the middle of the state and connected with the Union Pacific RR / Pacific RR North of Omaha, NE. In 1850, the population of Boone Co. was 735 people and grew to 4,232 by 1860, 14,581 by 1870 and 20,838 by 1880.

This post is on a CD 132 Cadiz bullet that was found in 1973 on the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as it ran West out of Boone, Iowa and crossed the Des Moines River toward Ogden, Iowa. Details are as follows:

CD-132 No Embossing - Cadiz Style - Script 2 (Front Dome) Patd (Rim) - Mint Green (Bubbles / Microbubbles) - Measurements: 75 mm Wide x 109 mm Height.

The script 2 on the dome was hard to photograph, but I was able an angle to obtain a decent photo [id=611354222]. Also, the "PATd" on the rim was impossible to photograph since the upper part was on a flat surface, but the bottom part of the embossing is bent around the rim - this is the best photo I was able to take [id=611354376].
