Here are the variations I have found on the E. C. 3 49 embossed insulators.

From left to right: 1. on the top of the crown is an "X". 2. on the top of the crown is a depression of a disk or circle. 3. on the top of the crown is 2 bumps that raise up.

There are also size embossing variations in these.
